For Sale: 1989 Gulf Stream Conquest, Class C RV, Ford 350 Gas Motor, 27 feet in length. AZ Title. It runs.
I have owned it and lived in it for approximately 3.5 years here in Tucson. I’ve done some work on it and it is livable now (if you don’t mind roughing it a bit) and IT RUNS. Keep in mind this was never my “daily driver”. I have a car. This RV was used as a home and was parked in an RV space that I rented here in Tucson.
THE GOOD STUFF:
1. It has a brand new AZ title. You just need to do the usual title transfer and registration.
2. It runs. Just started it up today. It runs on gas (not diesel) and that awesome Ford 350 motor is super reliable. It has less than 60,000 miles on the gauge. I recently put two rebuilt batteries in it and I replaced the tires when I bought it. (They alone cost around $1,000.) It doesn’t overheat. It does have a power-steering leak and a couple little quirks like the right blinker won’t stay on, but it is drivable now (but sold “as is”).
3. I recently put more than $1200 into it, replacing the entire electrical board (breakers and fuses) and having most of the plumbing replaced with fancy new PEX and copper connectors. Prior to that, I replaced most of the lights with new, dimmable LED fixtures and replaced all 4 ceiling vents with entirely new vents, sealant, and the tinted shade outer covers. While I was on the roof, I added a new, $200 cover to the AC unit, even though I don’t use it (see below). Interior hinges and pulls were also replaced, along with new door locks. I have more light fixtures ready to be installed, along with plenty of other new parts that I didn’t get around to installing, including: a brand new toilet, new vent pipe covers, a new fridge vent cover, new faucet and shower head for shower, new window for door, and more. All that comes with it and I’m leaving a handy portable heater and a new electric hotplate, too. The little kitchen sink is stainless and has a new pull up faucet (may or may not be installed). It also still has the original generator, although I have never used it. It also comes with sewer hoses, connectors and a new pressure regulator.
3. The layout is unusual and worked well for me. It had two twin beds in the back, which I removed, and the shower and toilet are on opposite sides of a little hallway. This gives you a room separate from the kitchen and bathroom. I used that back room for a bedroom and office for the years I lived in it. It was small, but cheap, and I was even able to run my business from there. Also, I’m a non-smoking female, so it’s pretty clean and not stinky. 🙂
4. Affordable Class-C RVs are often difficult to find and this one is priced at only $2000/obo.
WHY THE BARGAIN PRICE:
1. It has a leak in the loft and there’s a bit of water damage that needs fixing. To my knowledge, that is the only leak remaining. Also, all the window seals should be redone. It’s lived in the desert its whole life and probably has the original seals.
2. The roof is aluminum, not painted or coated. This makes a big difference in heat conduction. It needs to be painted or coated.
3. The shower pan has some cracks that need repaired. (I have all the stuff to do that, as well as a new light for the shower and new shower faucet and sprayer head.) The little bathroom sink also needs to be replaced.
4. The dinette benches need to be rebuilt, but the table is in good shape and I am leaving the new memory foam bed cushions I bought for it (they need a cover and bedding).
5. I removed the pull-out shade and the frame. It was in terrible shape, so I just threw out the whole thing. I was using umbrellas in stands on my little concrete patio and it was actually shady, cute, and easy to break down and take with. (If you want the umbrellas and stands, I could bring a couple back.) I also added a nice, wide set of outside stairs with a handrail.
6. You’ll need to get a new little microwave for it. (I used an inexpensive Amazon brand one and it fit perfectly in the cupboard above the stove. Took it with me.) Also, the refrigerator is slowly failing. I put most cold things in the freezer part, which worked fine, but it’s not cold enough to make ice or keep ice cream from melting.
7. When I had the new electrical box put in (a month or so ago), I had the roof AC disconnected because I don’t use it. (Very LOUD, expensive, inefficient.) You could easily add a window unit AC or have the roof unit reconnected.
I think that’s everything. It’s now unoccupied and parked here in Tucson. I do not live on site, but can schedule a meeting for a showing.
